1940s Sleepover

We were thrilled to have been invited to take part in the following event....

1940s Smallholding Comes Back to Life

when Banham's own 1940s smallholding was open to the public in May. Rushmere Cottage is a unique time capsule with everything as it was 60 years ago. We saw the Land Girls hard at work – and yes, the long-awaited Fordson tractor arrived – we helped the Home Guard get to grips with their rifle drill, and saw how life was lived in a 1940s cottage with rationing, salvage and make-do-and-mend.

We had a wonderfully memorable weekend - taking a step back in time and just beginning to understand what it would have been like to have been a Guide all those years ago. We tried hard to re-create the uniforms and camp experience, and entered wholeheartedly into all the activities and fun, as you can see from a glimpse at our photos!

Congratulations to those Guides who did us all proud, and furthermore achieved an outstanding Baden-Powell Adventure.
